Cacti graph not updating
One of the applications they have gathering data from this server is Cacti.
Anyhow they were able to login to Cacti but the graphs were not displaying.
The Four Changes There are four things you must do to configure Cacti for 1-minute polling. And by “extremely difficult”, I mean “just throw it away and start over”.
Cacti default 5-minute RRA settings The default Cacti RRAs expect polling every 5 minutes, and use steps of 1, 6, 24, 288.
It defines TWO 1-minute RRAs, along with RRAs for 6 minutes, 24 minutes, and 288 minutes (about 4 hours).
Remember, these are calculated as “(step size in data source) * (steps in RRA definition)”.
Just this morning, after about a week working on how to make my Cacti system poll every minute, I finally pulled it off.
I read about mysql and rrdtool timezone altering etc…but both tools were fine, showing the correct system time.
When combined with a 60-second step size (see below), this defines a 1-minute RRA.
But it doesn’t define the 5-minute, 30-minute, 2-hour, or 1-day RRAs.
Create a new graph using the "Interface Traffic" template, so will see that your graph will display a 1 minute worth of data gathered.
Note: For those existing graph with 5-min polling interval, you need to re-create the graph or just simply delete the associated rrd files, thus losing your historical data.
It turns out the latest update to Cacti, the popular SNMP and RRDTool graphing program, has a bug that makes it so graphs based on SNMP Data aren’t updated after upgrading.
